2003 - Forecast For Those Born in September

Personal: On April 14th, 2003 you will receive the impact of the Dragon's Head in Taurus, your 9th house (study, traveling). The Dragon's Head will induce a great opportunity to establish a new mental process of looking positively at the world. After a serious study you may gain serious opportunities to improve your position in life even recognition if you decide to crystallize your thoughts, write and publish your work. A computer course is a must if you have any chance to enjoy this new Dragon's blessing. These studies will help you to structure your thoughts and improve your creativity and prospects for success. The Dragon's Head in Taurus will also seriously improve your desire to travel, physically and mentally. I have been studying astrology for 18 years and have been toying with the idea of using the solar chart as well as the Placidus system and you confirmed my thoughts that it is correct but to use the zero point instead of the sun degree. I have seen it work with many charts correctly.

I also am thankful for your teachings of the nodes as most astrologers do not really understand them well and some do not even focus on them much going so far as not even putting the south node in the chart which I have never understood. It's finally here -- Mars that red neighbor planet of ours, the symbolic god of war, where theorists claim we may have even come from.

(Perhaps Venus, our sister planet, was once inhabited by peaceful, beautiful loving creatures a long, long time ago. Perhaps we are a product of both Venusians and Martians, gods of love and war, who both landed on Earth and decided to claim the blue marble another home. After all, Earth is such a beautiful oasis and refuge in our solar system compared to all the other planets. Just a thought ;)

Well, if you've seen Mars already, you can't miss it unless it's completely overcast and foggy in your area. It's brighter than Venus these days. In fact, it's the third brightest object in the sky after the sun and moon. After 60,000 years, it's come around again to make its presence known to humanity.

On Saturday, August 24th at 4:00 am, I had the privilege to see Mars in the largest telescope on the West Coast of the United States. It's a very new 36-inch reflector telescope named Nelly. It's located at the Chabot Observatory in Oakland, California, tucked in the tree-thick Oakland Hills.

The line at Chabot, just to see Mars, lasted over four hours long. I only wish I had brought a lawn chair, a latte, and a thicker jacket with me.

It turns out that Chabot has three telescopes to see the heavens with -- an 8-inch, a 20-inch, and then there's the 36-inch. So for those who knew and heard by word of mouth, Nelly was the scope to see the red planet with.

I got to see Mars in other telescopes too, where amateur astronomers set up their own equipment next to the long line. The local newspaper printed that if one should see Mars, to try a telescope with 100x power. Mars will look as big as our moon. I did see it in a 100x power telescope and Mars looked like the moon as if I were looking at it overhead in the sky. I couldn't see the red, maybe a tinge of palest orange, but it did look like a moon. Yes, there was a spot at the south pole that looked like a hint of ice cap.

So by the time I got to Nelly, I hoped for a much better and bigger view. Well, it wasn't red and it wasn't detailed. It still looked like a moon, but it was amazingly bland. There was a gray streak across it's face and a hint of what appeared to be the Southern ice cap. It was not pockmarked, featured with canal-like streaks, canyons, volcanoes or even red. Not even the famous Mars face or tiny Martians were visible to the naked eye. There was way too much sunlight bouncing off Mars' surface and flooding into the telescope. It was like looking at a plain, round white image against a black background as if seeing something on a black and white television set.

A volunteer there said the media likes to use red filters on their cameras to make the planet appear red on television and in photos.

So last night the 9 o'clock news featured Mars as one of its top stories. The newscast was disappointing. The fog had rolled in and no one could see Mars at all at Chabot. So I definitely was very fortunate to have seen anything at all.

It's the Hubble Space telescope that will get the best view. Our atmosphere on earth makes it difficult to see most things in space. So I will wait for the fancy filtered, computer generated image from the Hubble to tell it like we really want to see it.

In the meantime, Mars will still be around and close enough to spot. Even though it's not as fancy or awe inspiring as Jupiter or Saturn from an earth-bound telescope, it's still worth taking a peak at. You can tell your grandchildren that you actually saw Mars as close as it'll ever come around again every 60,000 years or so.

With the major comets that have swung nearby, the string of pearls that fell into Jupiter, major planetary line-ups, total solar eclipses, and now Mars getting close to Earth, we are the lucky ones to be alive today. I'll say one thing about MARS event - I have not in quite a few years had as much energy as I have had in the last 24 hrs. to work, i.e. to plan through activity to attain future goals. I've been on a wild ride the last 24 hours. The fact that my natal Mars is in Aquarius, might have something to do with, however, for many people, Mars is not very far away from their natal Sun which should add a whopping energy boost to whatever they do.
